COOP Institute of Education ( is member of the AIVD – Adult Education Institutions Association. COOP offers complex services on the field of adult education. COOP has been active on the Slovak education market for numerous years now and during this time was able to gather valuable experience. Originally established in 1983 as an education facility for consumer cooperatives, COOP operates nation-wide and nowadays offers a wide spectrum of professional education activities for various groups of clients in cooperation with other facilities throughout Slovakia. During this time we were able to to gather valuable project experiences that can be beneficial for the project development and outputs. This project will facilitate the exchange of information for the purposes of applying and introducing methods of good practice within intergrated learning system in the urban trade sector. Due to their long project activity history, they have gained a lot of experience in dissemination.

COOP Institute of Education is located in a region where major shopping centres have been developed within a very short period of time. At the same time, the functions of small shops were impeded by extensive development of new, large centres with special markets and shopping malls around the periphery of the city. The small shops which used to be in the past the focal points of service and supply near to residential areas are now largely unable to compete with economic pressure generated by the concentration of shops and expansiveness of the new greenfield shopping malls, so that their function is under threat from many directions. COOP Institute of Education can contribute on the project AGORA by having the capacity to cooperate with various enterprises and companies in the urban commercial sector that might have a positive acquisition on the overall project result and good practice sharing. They will lead WP-5 Dissemination & Exploitation activities.
